Parents as Teachers
How do you help your children learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential?
Together on each PAT visit, we will:
Look at your child's development and talk about parenting challenges you face right now.
Think about family dynamics impacting your child's development, your parenting values and decisions.
Identify the protective factors to keep you, your child and your family healthy, strong and resilient.
To enroll in the PAT program, a family:

must live in the Petal School District.

must have a child under the age of three.

must meet monthly with their parent educator
PAT is a free program that offers:
Personal visits customized for the needs of your family. Visits are held on a scheduled basis in your home or at The Coleman Center for Families and Children. The visits typically last an hour.
Regular screenings to evaluate the strengths and trouble spots in the child's development.
"Playshops" for parents and preschool age children each Tuesday morning.
Babies don't come with instructions. Parents as Teachers can help.
Parents as Teachers (PAT) helps parents understand child development and connects them to the resources they need to make the best choices for their families.
Parents as Teachers children:
